Make a Bear - simple!

A couple of weeks ago, I just had the most amazing day with my little boy. But it didn't quite start like that!

He came home from the nursery on Friday and told me that we were to make a bear. Make a bear?? Yes, because that what his little friend Louise and her mother had done the weekend before. And now that Louise had brought her lovely bear - Biscuit I think he was called -  to the nursery, he also wanted one.

There was just one big problem - I didn't know how to make a bear!! But I could not possibly tell him that now that he so wanted to get creative with me. The even bigger problem was that I don't know how to sew either... Well, a quick call to Louise's mum pointed me in the right direction and I went on the internet to have a look what to do when given the task to make a bear. To my absolute delight I found the website - Blackberrie Bears - that had everything I was looking for. A bear making kit, no sew (phuu...), a great choice of lovely 15" bears and animals with evertything you needed to make it at a really afforedable price.

We went through the web site together, made our choices - his bear is called Bonkers! - and put a call in to invite him to come and live with us... the whole process was so enjoyable, we really got into it and made Bonkers sounds so real.

The bear arrived as promised in the post a few days later and we spend a few hours stuffing him and making him feel at home. He was so pleased the following week when he could take Bonkers to the nursery and show him off to all the children and staff. He loves his bear and I am happy not to have failed to make his dream of making his own bear come true despite my own little shortcomings in the creative department!

Now my son could not even imaging a life of going to bed without Bonkers under his arm. That for me is what these little moments are all about - creating beautiful childhood memories!
